1. What is a Zine?
^ A zine is a collection of work that follows a specific theme and is sometimes made by different people, formatted together into either a digital or physical booklet. This zine will be open to page artists, writers, and merch artists.2. Who can contribute?
^ We are open to anyone at least 18 years old by the time contributor confirmation emails are sent! While this is a SFW fanzine, due to comfort and money handling, we are only accepting 18+ applicants. Though you do not need any zine experience or follower count to apply.3. How many contributors will be accepted
^ There will be 15-25 page artists, up to 5 writers, and 3-5 merch artists4. Will this zine be physical or digital?
^ At a minimum, this zine will be digital with digital merch, though we have hopes for a physical release + physical merch as well.5. Will this zine be for profit or charity?
^ A mix of both. Contributors and moderators will be compensated for their work with either a flat rate or a comped bundle of the zine first. All remaining proceeds will be donated to The Trevor Project for suicide prevention of LGBTQ+ youths.5. What kind of content will be expected in this zine?
^ This is a SFW zine and hence will not include nudity, anything explicitly sexual, or extensive gore. However, cursing, sexual/suggestive language, semi-revealing clothing, and mild injuries and blood may be included. We are looking to keep the ratings of this zine similar to a censored game of Dispatch.6. Will shipping be allowed?
^ Currently pending the interest check feedback for confirmation, but shipping content will not be the focus of this zine. If people are interested in having it included, it will be kept minimal or be implied for this zine rather than a main focus.7. What characters will make an appearance in this zine?
^ While the main focus will be the Z-team, Robert included, it is ultimately open to any SDN duo a contributor may be interested in pairing up.8. Is this project tied with the official Dispatch game or ADHOC?
^ No, this is an entirely fan-made project with no ties to the official game or company. They continue to retain the rights to all characters the zine will feature.9. I dont see an answer to my question, where can I go?
^ As of now, you can submit an ask on our zine tumblr or send an email to [email protected]. Commenting on social media posts or sending direct messages is not preferred but also available.

~ All Contributors must be at least 18 years old by the time contributor confirmation emails are sent.~ Discord will be the primary use of communication between mods and contributors. Those accepted must already have or be willing to create a discord account.~ Accepted contributors will receive a confirmation email by March 25th with the server link.~ Accepted contributors who do not join the discord server by April 1st will be replaced, so be sure to check your email.~ Pieces for this zine must be entirely original and created during the process of this zine. Plagiarized work is not accepted and will result in you being removed. Work that has been posted online or used for another project is not allowed.~ The use of any form of generative AI is strictly forbidden for any part of your process. If you are suspected of using AI, you will be removed from the project immediately.~ Pieces are not allowed to be shared outside of the discord server during any part of the process until you are specifically told by mods that you are allowed. No sneak peeks or WIPs.~ Contributors must participate in progress checks and communicate with mods if they have an issue meeting these deadlines beforehand.~ If a contributor fails to participate in a check in without proper communication beforehand, they will be warned the first time and removed at a second offense.~ Contributors who engage in harmful activities, including but not limited to, racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, hatespeech, xenophobia, or general bullying within or outside of the zine will be removed.~ While contributors do gain the right of the piece they create, any form of production is not allowed until after all zine sales have concluded and the project has officially ended. While the project is running, your piece should remain exclusive to the zine.~ Zine pages will be 6" by 9" at 300DPI.
Page Artists can apply for General Page Artist or Spot Artist.Page Artists will be granted either a 1 page illustration, a 2 page spread, a 1-2 page comic, or a 3-4 page comic. Each one based on an original pitch. Single illustrations will be in color, and comics will have the option for color or grayscale tones.
Spot Artists will be paired with a writer and create either a 1 page illustration or smaller, illustrative elements that are cohesive with their written work. Color or tones will be decided after a pitch is made.
Artwork can be done traditionally or digitally as long as it meets the proper size and quality requirements. Tradional art must be scanned in for final submissions, properly cropped, and altered digitally to meet the DPI. All progress photos must be free of shadows, glares, and uneven lighting. What we look for in page artists is:
- An understanding of Human Anatomy (Golem excluded)
- Use of Color
- Use of Lighting and Value
- Environments (compelling backgrounds or interacting elements)
- Use of Composition
- Interesting stylistic choicesPage Artists will be asked to submit:
- 3 of your best pieces, being sure to include examples of what you want to make for this zine (illustration or comic)
- A portfolio of 10-20 pieces (may include the 3 already provided)
- An optional pitch for your piece
- Optional artwork containing Dispatch characters included in the portfolioFor portfolios, for the sake of convenience, we ask not to submit social media links unless they are used for finished work only. We do not want to have to scroll through text posts and sketches to find completed pieces. Compiling your best work into Google Drive or Dropbox works best. Personal portfolio sites are also allowed.
Writers will create a one-shot/scene between two characters that does not exceed ~2.5k words. (We are looking to fit writing within a maximum of 6 pages per writing slot. The number of accepted writers and format changes may alter the word count.)Because we have such limited writing slots, we are looking to include writers who understand these characters and can depict them as genuinely as possible so examples containing the dispatch character(s) you wish to write for (or characters that are similar) are HIGHLY encouraged. Headcanons are more than welcome, but having writing feel like the character will be important. What we look for in writers is:
- The ability to tell a compelling one-shot or scene with a limited word count
- Effective dialogue that feels natural
- Figure of speech usage and well-written narration (not entirely centered on dialogue)
- Accurate characterization Writers will be asked to submit:
- 1 completed one shot/scene up to 2.5k words (To assure youre capable of writing within the requirements)
- 2 additional examples up to 2.5k words each. (This can also be a completed one shot/scene or an excerpt from a larger work)
- A portfolio of at least 3-10 pieces (may include the 3 already provided)
- An optional pitch for your pieceFor portfolios, Google Drive and Dropbox with PDFs of your written work are heavily preferred, though we will also accept links to accounts on AO3, Fanfiction.net, Tumblr (only if dedicated solely to writing), etc.
Each Merch Artist will be responsible for designing 2-4 merch items that will sell alongside the zine. This will include digital and hopefully physical items.Specific items will be decided upon based on both Interest Check results and artists' personal interest to create, but may span from digital backgrounds and icons to physical prints and keychainsWhat we look for in merch artists is:
- An understanding of Human Anatomy (Golem excluded)
- Use of Color
- Use of Lighting and Value
- Interesting stylistic choices
- Ability to make it merch-appropriateMerch artists will be asked to submit:
- 3 examples of your best pieces, either artwork or photos of merch, being sure to include examples of what you'd like to do (keychain designs, art prints, wallpaper, icons, etc)
- A portfolio of 10-20 pieces (may include the 3 already provided)
- Optional pitches for what you'd like to makeFor portfolios, for the sake of convenience, we ask not to submit social media links unless they are used for finished work only. We do not want to have to scroll through text posts and sketches to find completed pieces. Compiling your best work into Google Drive or Dropbox works best. Personal portfolio sites and online stores are also allowed.Experience in making merchandise is not needed, nor do you require examples of finished merch to apply. All you need is an understanding of what makes something merchandisable: simplification in details, lines, or color for keychains or stickers, interesting compositions for the formatting of art prints and wallpapers, etc.
